BlackBerry loses its home to iPhone

, March 23, 2012, 0 Comments

RIM’s  home advantage position has taken by Apple,  Apple shipped 2.85 million iPhones in Canada during 2011, beating RIM’s 2.08 million shipments, according to numbers compiled by market research firm IDC and Bloomberg. RIM needs to do something smarter and quicker to stop Apple’s  juggernaut in Canada , it should see the writing on the wall  that   loyalty won’t able to salvage your  position in your home market.

Canadians has been loyal to RIM’s Blackberry for a long time, but loyal customer’s can be retained only you add some zing or extra likable features to your existing product. Adding to misery is that Blackberry app world does not inspire that much ISV’s and developers to build App , like for Android and   iOS  platform. Trying to bring Touch Screen capability – Torch 9810 and the Storm 2 has not given the required boost like it has been for HTC and Samsung – Android and iOS.

This shifting pattern of customers to iPhone is seen in U.S and Europe market, appears to be disappointing, but Blackberry has seen encouraging  growth in Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
