Mumbai, December 14, 2011 : Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee announced in the Lok Sabha today that a White Paper will be issued on black money. Explaining government’s effort he said government has received 36,000 ‘pieces’ of information with regard to Indian account holders in banks abroad. He was quick to react upon opposition claim of government “Inaction” on Black Money, and also rejected Opposition demand for making public the information received, saying it would violate the agreement with foreign countries and also “dry up our source of information”.
He also clarifies that The names of Members of Parliament (MPs) did not figure in the information he had received from abroad. Opposition leader Mr. L. K. Advani demanded adjournment motion which was defeated by a voice vote. Most of the MPs in the house said no to the motion.
