Indigo Airlines today announced that it will increase frequencies on the domestic and international routes this summer. Addition of nine aircraft to its fleet will enable the carrier to service its expansion program.
Aviation sector is bleeding due to very high fuel cost, at a time like this when leading carrier such as Jet Airways[stockquote]JETAIRWAYS[/stockquote], SpiceJet and Kingfisher Airlines [stockquote]KFA[/stockquote] reporting QoQ losses, IndiGo remains only carrier to report profits in the past few quarters. Currently, IndiGo operates 307 daily flights connecting 31 destinations.
Direct Import of ATF
In February 2012, the government allowed airlines to directly import aviation turbine fuel instead of buying from local refiners. According to airline’s President, Mr Aditya Ghosh, the government allowing direct import of aviation turbine fuel, is an interesting proposition.
