Nitesh Ranjan is chief economist of Union Bank of India. A post-graduate in economics & with diploma in treasury, investment & risk management, he has over twelve years of work experience across government sector and banking.

His present responsibilities involve Investor Relations, Economics and Strategic Planning. Ranjan has written an occasional paper on “Role of Commodity Exchanges in price stabilization” (2005) with grant assistance of NABARD and also completed a research scholarship project for Indian Banks’ Association on “Equity & Commodity Business in Banks” (2006). He was a member of the Committee on Economic Policy Affairs of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry for 2011-12 and was closely associated with the RBI committee (2012) on priority sector lending.

Dr. Vidya Mahambare is the Principal Economist, Director of CRISIL limited and is currently responsible for conducting extensive macroeconomic research and providing the outlook for key economic parameters including growth, inflation, exchange rates and interest rate, along with her team.

Vidya represents CRISIL at several forums in various capacities. Vidya joined CRISIL in 2005. Prior to joining CRISIL, she was in the faculty of Cardiff Business School, UK, teaching courses in international economics, microeconomics, modern business enterprise and econometrics. In 2005, Vidya’s co-authored book, ‘Should Britain leave the EU? An Economic Analysis of a Troubled Relationship’ was published. Vidya holds a PhD in Economics from Lancaster University, UK. For her doctorate studies, she was awarded the prestigious Overseas Research Studentship Award for academic excellence and research potential by the Committee of Vice Chancellors and Principals (CVCP) of UK. Vidya completed her masters’ degrees in Economics from Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, and International Trade and Finance from Lancaster University, UK.

Ritesh is an Economist with 15 years of experience across various Govt. and Private Sector organizations. Currently, he is associated with Raymond Limited wherein he advises the Group’s top management on the implications of global macroeconomic environment, India’s bilateral/regional & multilateral (WTO) trade agreements as well economic policy formulations.

Prior to this, he was Group Trade Economist, Aditya Birla Group until May 2012. Before that, he was Research Officer (Economics), Cabinet Secretariat, Govt. of India, Delhi, India. He’s a regular speaker and corporate trainer on macroeconomic and trade policy issues. Besides, Ritesh is an OPED columnist for The Hindu Business line, The Diplomat and a Guest Columnist for Bureaucracy Today. He writes on economic policy issues. Ritesh is an M.A. in Economics and has a law degree to his credit. He is a certified professional in Commercial Diplomacy from Institute of Trade & Commercial Diplomacy, USA.

Dr.Badri NarayananDr. Badri Narayanan Contributing Writer
Dr. Badri Narayanan is a Research Economist at the Center for Global Trade Analysis, Purdue University, housed in the Department of Agricultural Economics in West Lafayette, Indiana. In addition, he has been an Adjunct Professor of Economics at Purdue University.

He has been developing and managing various models and datasets used for policy research across the world. His broad research interests lie in the area of trade policy modeling in relation to industrial, labor, health and energy/environmental issues. He has published three books and dozens of research papers in reputed journals such as Applied Economics, Economic and Political Weekly, Economic Modelling and Energy Economics.

Prior to moving to the US in 2007, Badri was a Fellow with Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations, where, among other things, he lead a project on competitiveness of Indian auto industry, for the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council. Badri holds a PhD from Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai and BTech from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. He has collaborated with researchers working on diverse disciplines such as biology and ecology, civil engineering, computer graphics technology, information systems, supply chain management, public health, law and sociology
