Learning & Worry: Unavoidable truth

worry-learning--marketexpress-inThe endless worry, to which the human civilization has fallen prey and which has enslaved homo sapiens through generations has transuded into the somatic system as if it were destiny. Fretting over oodles has become a cynosure. It is as though it is interesting to have a world revolving around worries.

Classrooms that should jingle with laughter, prayers that should conclude with praise and gratitude, conversations that could simply be a discussion ends up with worry. Worrying about an ephemeral life and an uncertain future has become our modus vivendi. Parents carry baggage of loathing back home, after a stressful day at work and teachers take into their classrooms, an aversion which tears down the blithesome framework of a classroom. Consequently, the pristine souls of the little children carry qualms and foreboding for the rest of their lives. Worrying originates from living up to expectations and fear of conjecture formed by others.

Schools could contribute to the riddance of such a negative footing from the society. Introducing regular debates and discussions from the secondary level up to higher levels could succour the youth from falling into the trap of melancholy which could eventually lead to depression. Debates teach children to respect differing opinions, diverse ideas and sustain composure even during a heated argument. Debates and discussions should be judged on a child’s ability to restrict themselves from indignant outbursts and their potential to put across the crux of the matter in a skillful manoeuvre. Children should be taught to acknowledge each other’s effort and not disparage the weaker participant. Life is not about winning a battle but learning from enduring and building an endearing self and making friends.

It wouldn’t be possible unless the teaching fraternity became the paragon of such a virtue. The first step could be to reconstruct the edifice and secure the vestiges of peace.

To be able to create a pleasant milieu, adults should be able to untangle themselves from the noxious circle of agony, and lead the youth towards a prospective devoid of worry.

It is incumbent on the teachers that they look into the mental health of every child so that they grow up to be forbearing and magnanimous. To be a teacher one should have the vision of a world of paradisaic beauty where people could amble in euphoric ecstasy.
